Sin=Hell Jesus Saves

Salvation

We realize that you may have intentionally chose to land on this page seeking information about how to come into a relationship with Jesus, or you may have just been curious about what we think about the matter. Regardless of why you're here - we're glad you are!

We could take up this whole page (and half of your day) trying to explain the meaning, purpose and plan of salvation, but we think it best to give you a few principles of salvation for you to consider:

First of all, God loves the whole world and wants to have a real, dynamic, personal relationship with each person.

But unfortunately, we are forever separated from God because of sin, and on our own we can do nothing to eliminate that 'gap' that stands between us because God is a holy God and there must be a payment made for the penalty of our sin.

This is where the Good News comes in! God sent His Son, Jesus to this earth to pay the price for sin by dying in our place on the cross. And after three days in a borrowed tomb, He rose from the dead; conquering death, hell and the grave...oh yeah...and OUR SIN!

When someone puts his or her faith in Jesus Christ, they receive forgiveness of their sin and is reconciled to God through Jesus. This is the beginning of a person's journey to becoming a totally committed Christ follower.

To follow Jesus means to turn away from sin and to surrender your life to Him. That in no way means we're 'perfect,' but it does mean we're allowing the Spirit of God to help us live our lives in a way that honors God and makes Jesus' name known in your world.

Baptism

Once a person has experienced forgiveness of their sins and has started their new life as a Christ follower, we believe the Bible teaches that the next step is to follow Jesus' example and be baptized. Baptism is both simple and powerful in its meaning and demonstration. It's simple in meaning because it involves a person being fully submerged in the water. We fully submerge individuals in the water to publicly identify with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

It's powerful in its demonstration because it is an open declaration to those who witness it that a person has turned from their 'old life' and have found 'new life' with Christ and will endeavor to live for Him from that moment forward. If you're interested in being baptized, would like to talk to someone about it or just want a little more info, fill out one of our contact forms.

Serve

At the Body Dayton, we think it's important for people to serve others. But it's not just important, we were created to serve! Unfortunately, our culture can make this difficult because it drives us to think of ourselves first and 'look out for #1!" But at the end of the day, when we only serve ourselves, we are left with a void because whether we realize it or not, we haven't fulfilled our purpose.

Every week people just like you give their time to serve others at the Body Dayton. It could be in the parking lot, serving coffee, teaching children, working behind the scenes executing our worship experiences...and everything in between! And one thing is true about each and every one of those volunteers: they are making a difference in the lives of every person that comes through our doors.

We don't take lightly the fact that your calendar is full and your schedule is busy. We know there are many things competing for your time and attention: family, work, school, etc. But we also know that there is nothing more rewarding than meeting new people, making new friends and being a part of something bigger than ourselves.

There is always room for one more volunteer, and when you're ready and want more info about our groups or areas where your personality and talents line-up with the needs of others - we have a program to get people plugged in.
